LearnKey’s Project Management Professional Course has R.E.P approval from PMI
We are so excited to announce that LearnKey’s Project Management Professional course is finally PMI approved!
After working closely with Michael Meskers, a PMI member, and filming the course, we knew it was definitely worthy of PMI approval- it just took us a little longer to actually seal the deal!
Achieving Registered Education Provider (R.E.P.) status from the Project Management Institute signifies LearnKey as an established producer of quality training for the Project Management industry!
Inventor of Cell Phone: We Knew Someday Everyone Would Have One
As I was skimming around CNN.com today, catching up on techie news, I found this awesome article called Inventor of Cell Phone: We Knew Someday Everyone Would Have One written by Tas Anjarwalla. I was fascinated as I read the history of the cell phone- which I knew nothing about before.
I don’t even own a home phone. My cell phone is my life! When my cell dies, I feel completely shut off from the world. I get a panicky feeling knowing that I’m unreachable for a temporary amount of time. I can’t really remember what life was like before I had a cell phone- and I’m not that old!
It was a really great read- check it out…

Sales with Integrity
A good friend of mine, Anne, is trying to run an accessory business for women and children, specializing in trendy headbands.
Anne was in the beginning stages of getting started and was unsure of how to actually sell her products and where to start. She came to me last week and asked for some advice because I’ve had sales experience in the past. It was perfect timing as LearnKey had just released their Sales with Integrity course! I told her about it and why I thought it would help her- not only to better understand the sales process, but how she can implement that into her accessory business. She took me up on the offer and watched the course.
Woman Turns Alien via Photoshop
Adobe Photoshop is useful for many things, whether it’s touching up old photos, refining recent photographs or even creating completely new digital compositions.
As a graphic designer with a fascination for digital art, I am always on the lookout for new things to create. As an example, a few weeks ago I was searching the web for fun-looking tutorials, and I came across this tutorial at marcofolio.net on how to transform a human into an alien using Photoshop. I was intrigued, so I followed the tutorial using an image I got from iStockphoto, occasionally modifying steps as I went along.
In just a little under ten minutes, I was able to totally transform a picture of a pretty young woman into a strange-looking alien. What do you think? Pretty cool eh?
If you’re interested in learning how to master Photoshop, be watching for our new Photoshop CS5 training that we will be filming next week or check our product page here for the Photoshop CS4 course.
PowerPoint 2010- Broadcast Slide Show
Michael Meskers is back in the LK house and is in the midst of filming our PowerPoint 2010 training! We always enjoy working with Michael. He really knows his stuff!
Speaking of PowerPoint 2010, did you know that it has the capability to broadcast presentations over the Internet for remote view or for viewers over the network? All you need is a Windows Live ID! How cool is that?
All you need to do is open a presentation in PowerPoint, start a broadcast, and share the unique link PowerPoint provides with your audience. Then anyone, anywhere who is listening to your presentation via phone or conference call can open the link and see your slide show in their Web browser. Whenever you change a slide or start an animation their view is updated automatically.
Very cool.

“Train the planet”
LearnKey is helping people to succeed all over the world!
In fact just today, as I was working on this post and preparing it to be published, I received this email from one of our clients. It fits perfectly with the promotional video I was uploading to our blog (see below) and expresses exactly what I was trying to convey, only this is from an actual student- probably in training as I type this.
Here’s what this person had to say:
Dear LearnKey,
I am really enjoying the LearnKey/ExamForce OnlineExpert on Microsoft Office 2007 program. It is awesome! What is really great is that I can do it from home. I don’t have to get dressed up, comb my hair, drive someplace and wait on an instructor (who is probably old, boring, with a long beard and bad breath!). All I have to do is walk into the next room and turn on my computer. How easy is that!?! I can learn in my pajamas, with my slippers on or however I want to be dressed…

“Only in New York!”
He’s a baker, she’s a software trainer and techno geek!- truly this can only happen in New York.
This week LearnKey is welcoming into our studio, Mandi Bergenfeld, a software trainer and computer instructor from New York who owns her own training company, Twin Computer Training. Her husband, on the other hand, is a baker and owns his own Bagel shop, Goldberg’s Famous Bagels– Great Food, Great Friends, The Perfect Cup of Coffee!
Mandi, is our newest expert and author of the Word 2010 video series. We are so excited to have Mandi working with us to create this course. With her 20+ years experience in the IT training industry I’m certain that she will put a course together that is both engaging and full of the newest tips and tricks.
My only concern now is, will she bring us some of her husband’s delicious Goldberg’s Famous Bagels? I’m hungry!

Microsoft CEO Says Changing Market Not a Danger
Nearly two weeks ago, on May 26th 2010, Apple became the world’s most valuable Technology Company based on market capitalization, beating out long time leader, Microsoft.
One million iPads trumped one billion PCs that day!
I read an interesting article this morning on Reuters.com called Microsoft CEO Says Changing Market Not a Danger, written by Alexei Oreskovic, that said although Microsoft’s Chief Executive Steve Ballmer called the transition from PCs to smartphones and tablets a time of “potential tumult” in the technology industry, he still encouraged that “the software maker will continue to prosper in the changing market.” He proceeded to say, which will comfort and reassure us longtime PC users, that Microsoft’s Windows operating system will feature on the new breed of touchscreen tablet computers.
