Changing IT Environment Demands New Strategies for Training, Certifying Workforce, CompTIA Exec Says

On August 12, CompTIA posted a press release concerning a certification update delivered at the CompTIA Breakaway event this week. To summarize, IT jobs are expected to greatly increase over the next several years. With those new jobs, a different set of skills will be required according to industry trends.

“Trends in technology are changing the employment landscape,” Terry Erdle, senior vice president, skills certification, CompTIA, said in remarks delivered at Breakaway 2010, the premier event for IT companies in North America.

“It doesn’t mean that we don’t need people,” he added. “It’s just a different kind of job.”

Congratulations to the LearnKey Scholarship Winners

I am very excited to announce Tori Glass from Ore City High School and Ontonio Colon from Roberto Clemente Community Academy as the winners of the 4th Annual LearnKey Scholarship Program. Tori was certified in Photoshop CSA and Ontonio completed A+ Certification 2009. Congratulations Tori and Ontonio.

Thank you to all of the schools, teachers, and students who participated in this year’s program, making it another successful year. The participating schools were Ore City High School, Roberto Clemente Community Academy, and Warren Easton Charter High School.

Nearly two months ago, I ran into some serious financial problems. I’ll avoid telling the specifics as I realize I’m not the only going through this and you all have your own problems, but it is important to know that my situation is difficult and seems almost impossible to recover from. In my life thus far, I’ve really never had to worry about financial stress… until now. And let me tell you, it was not a pretty sight! It hit me like a ton of bricks!

For days and days, I researched on the Internet hoping to find advice on how to solve this particular problem. After reading countless blogs and articles, I was left feeling even more tired and hopeless than before. It was inevitable- I was doomed!

Why Web Browser Updates are Necessary

Your web browser is a portal to limitless information. Sometimes referred to as “the little E in the corner”, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer is one of the most popular browsers. It comes with Windows pre-installed, so for Windows users it is by far the most easily accessible browser, but it is not the only choice. For those of us who prefer other options, there is Firefox, Safari (a standard on Mac OS X, also available for PC), Google Chrome, Opera…the list goes on and on.  Which browser you use, even different versions of the same browser, affects how you view the internet a lot more than you may think.
