Dreamweaver MX 2004

by Nathan Darling - Oct 30, 2009

Adobe’s newest version of Dreamweaver is CS4 (Creative Suite), which is sometimes unofficially identified as the 10th version of Dreamweaver.  Dreamweaver MX 2004 would be the 7th version, so it clearly is a little behind the times.  If you don’t have a version of Dreamweaver by all means spend the $399 to get the new one.  But if you are on a budget and happen to still be running your old Dreamweaver MX 2004, you may be happier with a $34.95 price to help you make the best use of the software you are already using.

The decision to upgrade your software or make do with what you have is one of great importance.  Obviously, inevitably an upgrade will be necessary, and it will not be the last one.  Software companies are constantly improving on their products, and this is a good thing, but it also means we have to spend a great deal of money to maintain our technology level.  There is no question that Dreamweaver CS4 has many benefits that Dreamweaver MX 2004 simply does not have and it can be really hard to decide if you can pass up on that.  For any web developers wrestling with that decision here is a website that might help : Dreamweaver Version Differences.

If you find that MX 2004 has all the features and benefits you need but you didn’t know you had them I may have just saved you ($399-34.95=$364.05).  The Dreamweaver MX 2004 Comprehensive CourseBook is a powerful manual that can take you from an introduction of Dreamweaver to a full understanding of all the features available to display information in an attractive and eye catching manner.  The hands-on exercises and projects makes learning and retention a lot easier.  Before long you will be squeezing newfound juice out of your not yet expired software implementation, and will be amazed at how much you didn’t know you could do.

If it turns out that you do need to upgrade from Dreamweaver MX 2004 to Dreamweaver CS4 you can just buy the upgrade which is $199, but even at that I still saved you $200.  Tell you what, send me half and we will call it good.
