It is always great when you can find things that help make your job easier and more interesting. It is especially nice when those things are free. With schools tightening budgets we thought it might be fun to let you know about 10 totally free tools that are available to you on the web.

These tools will help you connect you with students, parents, and other teachers. Stay organized and access additional resources to supplement your curriculum. Create an interactive classroom to engage students in learning with these exciting and free tools.

Doodle

This tool allows you to schedule meetings and activities, organize study group schedules, and take polls for projects.

Linguee

This is a translation tool that takes a word set in English and gives you results that are actual examples of how the term is used to make it easier to figure out the exact meaning.

Lucky Star

Lucky star is based on an animated math series, Cyberchase. The website has online games, activities, and teacher guide that are interactive and make learning math fun for students.

Microsoft Add-Ins to Office

Microsoft has an education section with education-specific add-ins to the Office Suite, Education templates, and teacher how-to materials. Templates range from lists to presentations to quizzes and tests.

ScuttlePad

This is a social networking site for kids ages 6-11 years old. This site is safe and makes it easy for kids to connect with their friends. Children also build language skills by using a preset group of words making it impossible to cyber bully. Other safety features are parents have to approve it for kids to sign up, pictures are manually approved by ScuttlePad, and only first names are used.

Shmoop Pre-Algebra

A website that free guides on hundreds of topics in pre-algebra. Each topic has diagrams, interactive examples, practice problems, and real-world applications.

Teachbook.com

A social network for teachers where you can find lesson plans, share lesson plans, create and manage online courses, record and calculate grades, post messages and read members posts, search and share instructional videos, and find events in your area.

Meebo

A place where you can manage all of your social networking sites. You can chat with students on any network or site. You can answer questions and host online office hours with this tool. Meebo can connect you to MSN, AOL/AIM, MySpace, Facebook, and Google Talk.

Blogger

A free way to set up a class website where students and teacher can interact and work together on assignments. Teachers can post due dates and assignment updates.  

Survey Monkey

This is a free survey tool that can be used to gather classroom data and feedback in a professional style. It also has tools to help get your responses and analyze your results.
